The Queen of the Night and Papageno disguised as a bird, the wizard Sarastro and the princess Pamina: everyone knows the bizarre and unforgettable characters of Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. But what would happen if at the premiere of Magic Flute all singers decided not to sing? In A Little Magic Flute the Filarmonica musicians directed by Francesco Muraca are accompanied by Luigi Maio, “Musicattore” and creator of the texts and music of this Mozart chamber parody. Luigi Maio plays the comedic role of a certain Carl Ludwig Giesecke, a contemporary historical figure of Amadeus and actor who, at the Teatro Elfo Puccini, decides to stage a clandestine version of Magic Flute.
The audience flocks in large numbers but, when the curtain rises, the singers don't show up! Left alone on stage with an orchestra behind him, Giesecke will have to interpret, in a funny and virtuous interaction with Maestro Francesco Muraca and the Filarmonica della Scala, all the revised and “incorrect” roles of the immortal Mozart fairytale: from a Queen of the Night suffering from insomnia, to an allergic Papageno... to feathers, who sneezes in the middle of an air!
