If we listen carefully to a close-knit group of musicians returning to masterpieces such as Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto and Brahms' Second Symphony, we can hear the understanding of years of working together making music. It is in the unrepeatable moment of the concert that mutual trust allows the unexpected to emerge. Director Emeritus since 2023, designated Music Director of the Teatro alla Scala since 2026, Myung-Whun Chung has established with Filarmonica a friendship based on an immediate mutual artistic and personal understanding, just renewed on the tour in South Korea and Japan in autumn 2025. After fourteen years we meet again the Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes, who in 2016 recorded for Sony the complete Beethoven concerts with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Chung and Filarmonica della Scala have been playing Beethoven and Brahms for almost forty years. And yet, every time it's like the first.
