“The violin is one of the most ruthless instruments because it reveals the state in which your body is. I might think I'm feeling fine, but then I play the violin and I realize I'm really tired.” Reading his interviews, we discover that the most contested virtuoso in the world — even the most committed violinist in 2023 and 2024 according to the annual Bachtrack rankings — is above all very human. Born in Italy to German parents and raised in the Tuscan countryside, at 41, Augustin Hadelich received awards ranging from the 2016 Grammy Award to the Honorary Doctorate of the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom. For his La Scala debut, he is joined by Riccardo Chailly, who in the second part of the concert adds the Fifth to the recent collection of Prokof 'ev's Symphonies. About his composition, Prokof 'ev wrote, “I wanted to sing about the free and happy man, his strength, his generosity and the purity of his soul.”
